Noetic Learning Math Contest
Challenging young minds through creative problem-solving
What is the Noetic Learning Math Contest?
The Noetic Learning Math Contest (NLMC) is a national problem-solving competition designed to inspire young learners and promote mathematical thinking. Held twice a year (Fall and Spring), NLMC challenges students with non-routine problems that go beyond classroom math.
The contest encourages critical thinking, creativity, and perseverance in a friendly and accessible format for elementary and middle school students.
Who Can Participate?
NLMC is open to students in grades 3 through 8. Students are grouped by grade level and compete on problems appropriate for their age group. Participation is open to schools, enrichment programs, or individuals participating from home.
Contest Format
The NLMC consists of 20 math problems to be solved in 50 minutes. Problems vary in difficulty, encouraging students to use logic, number sense, geometry, and problem-solving techniques.
For the online version, students take the test from home under the supervision of a parent or guardian during the official contest window.

Top-performing students are recognized with certificates and medals, including:
- National Honor Roll: Top 10% of all participants nationwide
