What Are We Going to Study?
Over two weeks, students will build a strong foundation in both Algebra and Geometry through hands-on problem solving and enrichment activities. Each week focuses on a different cluster of topics so students see how concepts connect and reinforce one another.
Week 1 – Algebra Enrichment
- Algebraic Expressions
- Exponents & Radicals
- Polynomial Functions
- Systems of Equations
- Word Problems & Applications
Week 2 – Geometry Enrichment
- Angles and Triangles
- Quadrilaterals
- Similar Triangles
- Circles
- Coordinate Geometry
Why This Camp Will Benefit Your Child
Stronger Performance in School
Many students learn the basics during the school year but rarely get the time to practice challenging problems in a low-stress environment. Our camp:
- Reinforces core skills in Algebra and Geometry with carefully scaffolded examples.
- Helps students close gaps from previous years before concepts become harder.
- Builds problem-solving habits that carry over into quizzes, tests, and state assessments.
Preparation for Advanced Classes
For students planning to take Honors or Accelerated math, this camp acts as a bridge:
- Preview key ideas from advanced middle school and early high-school courses.
- Practice multi-step problems that require combining several algebra and geometry ideas.
- Develop mathematical communication—explaining reasoning clearly and logically.
Foundation for Math Competitions
Sessions include activities and problems inspired by contests such as AMC 8/10 and MathCounts:
- Students learn common contest strategies and shortcuts (factoring, pattern-spotting, estimation).
- We emphasize number sense and flexible thinking rather than memorizing formulas.
- Problem sets gradually increase in difficulty so students build confidence as they progress.
Supportive, Small-Group Environment
With small class sizes, there is time for individual questions, targeted feedback, and enrichment for students who want to go further. The atmosphere is encouraging: students collaborate, share ideas, and see that challenging math can also be fun.
